Diabetes represents a growing phenomenon: according to ISTAT<\/a> data, in the last thirty years its prevalence has almost doubled. Thanks to early diagnosis, however, we are seeing an improvement in the quality of life of people with diabetes.<\/p>

Periodontitis and diabetes: a two-way street<\/h2>

The link between periodontitis and diabetes is bi-directional: people with diabetes are more likely to develop periodontitis, and people with periodontitis have a 30% higher susceptibility to develop diabetes.<\/p>

For this reason, periodontitis treatment can ameliorate the control of glycaemia. In fact, the scientific literature has shown that periodontitis treatment in a diabetic patient leads to a reduction in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) with a percentage such that it significantly ameliorates the management of the disease itself.<\/strong><\/p>
